John Wilde was invited to participate in a panel discussion held during the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit 2010. John appeared alongside Satellite Navigation luminaries such as Michael E. Shaw (Director of Global Business Development of
Lockheed Martin Space Systems), Dr. Helmut Blomenhofer (Head of Space Business Development & Studies,
Thales Germany - Air Systems), Francisco Salabert (NAV infrastructure and GNSS Activities Manager at
EUROCONTROL), Bill Stone (Avionics Product Manager at
Garmin), Dr. A.J. Van Dierendonck (AJ Systems and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Satellite Division of the
U.S. Institute of Navigation) and Rocky Stone (Chief Technical Pilot of
United Airlines).
The "Safety of Life: Realizing the Vision?" panel discussed the role and future of GNSS and its augmentations in safety critical applications and John emphasized the importance of cooperation in order to capitalise on advances in GNSS and related ICAO standards.
